Matchday 2 began with 28 goals, four clean sheets, one extraordinary comeback and a brutal reminder that even the best captaincy process can end with a red card.
For most UCL Fantasy managers, Tuesday revolved around Bayern München. Harry Kane delivered. Michael Olise did not. Kane scored twice and collected the Player of the Match award for 13 points, but Olise was sent off during Bayern's chaotic 3-3 draw at Viking and finished on minus one.
That single incident has split the game in two. Kane captainers can almost certainly lock in their 26 points. Olise captainers should move the armband on Wednesday, even though the red-carded midfielder cannot be substituted out.
Elsewhere, Arsenal recorded a second consecutive clean sheet, Lamine Yamal supplied two assists, Club Brugge won a seven-goal thriller at Inter and several almost unowned players produced the biggest scores of the night.
The biggest UCL Fantasy scores from Tuesday
- Nicolò Tresoldi, Club Brugge, 17 points
- Jurriën Timber, Arsenal, 16 points
- Carlos Forbs, Club Brugge, 14 points
- Santiago Mouriño, Villarreal, 14 points
- Harry Kane, Bayern München, 13 points
- Brajan Gruda, Leipzig, 12 points
- Joy-Lance Mickels, Sabah, 12 points
- Maarten Vandevoordt, Leipzig, 12 points
- Lamine Yamal, Barcelona, 11 points
- Luis Suárez, Sporting CP, 10 points
The list is a useful lesson in how UCL Fantasy points are built. Goals matter, but the biggest scores often combine several routes: clean sheets, ball recoveries, goals from outside the box and the three-point Player of the Match bonus.
Kane delivers, but Viking expose Bayern
Viking 3-3 Bayern München
Bayern were the obvious attacking target before the deadline. They eventually scored three times, but not in the way most managers expected.
Viking led 2-0 through Gianni Stensness and Peter Christiansen before Kane converted a penalty and headed the equaliser. Luis Díaz completed the turnaround, only for Michael Olise's red card to change the match again. Herman Haugen headed a late leveller.
Kane's 13 points included two goals and Player of the Match. A captain score of 26 is an easy hold. The fixture also extended his Champions League scoring streak to nine matches, strengthening the case that his high price buys an unusually reliable route to points.
The other Bayern outcomes were less comfortable. Díaz scored seven points, but the defence lost its clean sheet almost immediately and Olise ended on minus one. Managers who captained Olise received minus two before changing the armband.
The tactical takeaway is not that targeting Viking was wrong. Bayern created enough for their premium forward to return heavily. It is that UCL Fantasy's multi-day format exists precisely for nights like this: a red-card captain can be replaced by an unplayed Wednesday starter, even though the player himself cannot be removed from the XI.
Arsenal's defence becomes the safest part of the game
Arsenal 3-0 Lille
Arsenal have now won both league-phase matches without conceding. Their defenders offered much more than a routine clean sheet at the Emirates.
Jurriën Timber broke the deadlock with a clever finish, collected Player of the Match and scored 16 points. Gabriel and Ezri Konsa returned seven each, Myles Lewis-Skelly scored eight through his clean sheet and recoveries, while David Raya banked six.
Bukayo Saka was surprisingly left on the bench, but his cameo produced a goal, an assist and nine points. That was excellent for owners who started him, yet the benching matters more than the haul when planning Matchday 3. Arsenal visit Bayern next week, so this is not the moment to chase Tuesday's points without understanding Saka's minutes.
Arsenal's defenders are a different case. Clean sheets in Naples and at home to Lille show that their floor is real, while Timber's attacking threat and the centre-backs' recovery potential add routes beyond shut-outs.
Club Brugge produce the night's biggest differential haul
Inter 3-4 Club Brugge
Nicolò Tresoldi was the highest-scoring Fantasy player on Tuesday. The €7.0m forward scored a hat-trick, won Player of the Match and finished on 17 points.
Carlos Forbs was almost as damaging. Three assists and three recoveries gave the €6.0m midfielder 14 points. Both were around one per cent ownership or lower before the game.
Lautaro Martínez scored twice for Inter and returned ten points, but Brugge's transition threat decided the match. Romeo Vermant added the visitors' fourth after Tresoldi's treble, with Ange-Yoan Bonny scoring Inter's final goal.
The lesson is not to buy both Brugge players immediately. It is to reassess them. Tresoldi now has 23 points across two matchdays and hosts Lens next. Forbs has demonstrated an assist ceiling that his price does not reflect, although his current availability flag must be checked before any transfer.
Yamal remains Barcelona's attacking constant
Galatasaray 1-4 Barcelona
Barcelona fell behind to Aleksei Batrakov, then took control. João Cancelo equalised before half-time, Fermin López and Anthony Gordon scored shortly after the restart, and substitute Karim Adeyemi completed the victory.
Lamine Yamal did not score, but he created two goals and won Player of the Match for 11 points. Captainers have 22 points and should hold.
Cancelo's goal helped him to nine points, while Fermin scored seven. The wider message is that Yamal remains the safest route into Barcelona's attack while Raphinha is absent. He has now produced 26 points across the opening two matchdays.
Barcelona travel to Paris on Matchday 3, so the next fixture is more difficult. Even so, Yamal's combination of minutes, creation and bonus potential makes him much harder to sell than a conventional fixture-dependent midfielder.
Four clean sheets, three of them loaded with value
Only Arsenal, Atlético de Madrid, Sporting CP and Sabah kept clean sheets on Tuesday.
Sporting's 2-0 win at Lens produced returns throughout the defence. €4.0m goalkeeper Kaique Pereira scored eight, Iván Fresneda also returned eight, and Gonçalo Inácio did the same. Luis Suárez scored and won Player of the Match for ten points.
Sabah responded to their 4-0 defeat at Manchester United with the first Champions League proper victory in their history. Kaheem Parris and Joy-Lance Mickels scored in a 2-0 win over Slavia Praha. Mickels reached 12 points, while several budget defenders collected recovery bonuses on top of the clean sheet.
Atlético beat Manchester United 2-0 through Pablo Barrios and Ademola Lookman. Leny Yoro's late red card removed any hope of a United recovery and left his Fantasy score at zero.
The important pattern is that clean-sheet points were not confined to premium defenders. Recovery volume turned several €4.0m and €4.5m options into eight-point returns.
The two other 14-point surprises
Santiago Mouriño scored 14 points in Villarreal's 3-1 win over Napoli. The €4.0m defender scored from outside the box, recorded six ball recoveries and collected Player of the Match.
Brajan Gruda delivered 12 points as Leipzig beat PSV 1-0. His long-range winner brought an outside-the-box bonus and Player of the Match, while goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt also scored 12 after saving Ivan Perišić's penalty.
These are exactly the returns that can distort transfer thinking. Mouriño's price and recovery potential deserve attention, but Villarreal go to Liverpool next. Gruda faces Real Madrid away in Matchday 3. The points are banked; the next decision still belongs to the next fixture.

What should you do with your captain?
Kane: hold
Thirteen points means 26 with the armband. There is no Wednesday option with a sufficiently high floor to justify giving that up.
Yamal: hold
Eleven points means 22 as captain. Bank it.
Saka or Cancelo: usually hold
Nine points becomes 18. A switch only makes sense if you are deliberately chasing rank and accept the risk of losing points.
Olise: switch
The red card means Olise finished on minus one. UEFA's rules allow you to transfer the captaincy to an unplayed member of your starting XI. You cannot substitute Olise out, but you can remove the armband.
Any return of five points or fewer: switch
Wednesday's pool is not perfect, but Demirović, Mbappé, Guirassy and Dembélé all offer enough upside to attack a low score.
Our full Wednesday captaincy rescue guide ranks the options and explains the risk around Liverpool.
Wednesday: what matters before the deadline
The first matches begin at 17:45 BST, when Feyenoord host Como and Liverpool visit LASK. Confirm all manual substitutions and captain changes before that deadline.
Liverpool's fixture looks attractive, but the attack is depleted. Hugo Ekitiké is out, while Cody Gakpo, Alexander Isak and Dominik Szoboszlai remain sidelined. Wait for the confirmed XI before trusting any Liverpool attacker.
The strongest later captain routes remain:
- Ermedin Demirović away to Slovan Bratislava, the best pure fixture play
- Kylian Mbappé at Roma, the safest premium option
- Serhou Guirassy at Bodø/Glimt, the aggressive goals route
- Ousmane Dembélé at Manchester City, the elite-ceiling option in the hardest fixture
Check the confirmed line-ups before making the final decision, then use the live scores and Fantasy points centre throughout the evening.
Five lessons from Tuesday
- Do not switch away from a genuinely strong captain score. Kane and Yamal have already done the job.
- Red-card risk is part of the game, not evidence of bad process. Olise was a rational captain choice in an excellent fixture.
- Arsenal's defensive floor is real. Their Matchday 3 fixture is difficult, but clean sheets and recoveries give several defenders multiple routes to points.
- Do not chase last night's haul without checking the next opponent. Mouriño and Gruda have much harder Matchday 3 assignments.
- Wait for Wednesday's teams. Liverpool's injuries make the early confirmed XI especially valuable.
Tuesday rewarded managers who trusted Kane, Yamal and Arsenal. It punished those who followed Olise into the same Bayern fixture. The advantage now comes from reacting calmly.
Bank the big scores. Move the armband off a blank or a red card. Use the early line-ups. And remember that a dramatic first night does not require a dramatic response.
