Quarter-Final Leg 1 Preview: Match-by-Match Fantasy Breakdown for Matchday 13

All four QF first legs analysed for fantasy potential. Which fixture to stack, who to captain, and the picks that separate contenders from the pack.

Two weeks until the quarter-finals kick off and your Matchday 13 squad needs to be ready. Four ties, eight teams, and a dramatically reduced player pool. Every decision carries more weight now. A wrong captain pick or a missed differential could cost you hundreds of places in the overall rankings.

This is your fixture-by-fixture fantasy breakdown for Leg 1, built entirely from verified stats. No speculation, no guesswork. Just the numbers and what they mean for your squad.

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich: The Blockbuster

On paper, this is the tie with the highest combined fantasy ceiling. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich boast four of the top ten scorers in the entire competition, and the head-to-head history between these clubs suggests goals.

Real Madrid Assets

Kylian Mbappe (FWD, 11.1m, 82 pts, 55% owned) leads the competition with 13 goals. That is a staggering number. However, his form rating has dropped to 1.0 and he is flagged as Doubtful in the official squad data. At 55% ownership, a benching would be catastrophic. Monitor his status daily.

Vinicius Junior (MID, 9.6m, 78 pts, 24% owned) has been the most complete attacking asset in UCL Fantasy this season. Five goals and seven assists give him the best combined attacking output of any midfielder. His form rating of 4.5 tells you he is peaking at the right time. If Mbappe is doubtful, Vinicius becomes the primary captaincy option from this fixture.

Federico Valverde (MID, 6.8m, 66 pts, 14% owned) continues to fly under the radar. Three goals, four assists, three clean sheets, and a form rating of 4.5 from a player who costs less than 7.0m. At 14% ownership, he is a genuine differential who could swing mini-leagues.

Thibaut Courtois (GK, 6.2m, 55 pts, 26% owned) offers something unique for a goalkeeper: two assists from distribution this season, alongside four clean sheets. His 8.9 points per million is outstanding for the position.

Bayern Munich Assets

Harry Kane (FWD, 10.8m, 71 pts, 40% owned) has the hottest form in the competition. A perfect 5.0 form rating with 10 goals tells you everything. He is the safest premium forward in the game right now.

Michael Olise (MID, 8.3m, 57 pts, 31% owned) returns from his R16 suspension and is available for the quarter-finals. With 7 assists and a form rating of 4.0, he is a strong option alongside Kane in Bayern's attack.

✅ Olise is back. He served his suspension in R16 Leg 2 and is available for the quarter-finals. His 31% ownership and 7 assists make him a strong hold.

Jonathan Tah (DEF, 5.4m, 41 pts, 6% owned) offers solid budget value. Two clean sheets and a goal from centre-back, with a price tag that frees up funds elsewhere. Bayern have the firepower to challenge Real Madrid, which could leave gaps at the back for both sides.

💡 Stacking verdict: This is the tie to target if you want premium ceiling. Vinicius + Kane is the dream combination. Add Valverde as the differential third pick and you have a fixture trio that covers both sides of a potentially high-scoring match.

PSG vs Liverpool: The Fantasy Superfixture

PSG against Liverpool might be the most loaded fixture in UCL Fantasy history. Between them, these two sides account for five of the top eight scorers in the competition. The challenge is fitting them all in.

PSG Assets

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (MID, 8.2m, 82 pts, 17% owned) is joint-top scorer in UCL Fantasy with 82 points. Seven goals and four assists from a midfielder is elite output. Three clean sheet bonuses add further value. At just 17% ownership, he remains massively under-owned for the best player in the game.

Vitinha (MID, 7.3m, 81 pts, 41% owned) sits one point behind Kvaratskhelia with 81 points. Six goals from central midfield is remarkable. His 11.1 points per million makes him one of the most efficient assets available. Already at 41% ownership, he is approaching template status.

Nuno Mendes (DEF, 6.3m, 71 pts, 53% owned) is the highest-scoring defender in the competition. Two goals, two assists, three clean sheets from a full-back who operates as a winger. At 53% ownership, not owning him is a risk in itself.

Willian Pacho (DEF, 5.0m, 66 pts, 16% owned) has the best points-per-million ratio of any outfield player at 13.2 PPM. Two goals and an assist from centre-back at a bargain price. At 16% ownership, he is severely overlooked.

Liverpool Assets

Dominik Szoboszlai (MID, 6.9m, 83 pts, 23% owned) is actually the outright top scorer in UCL Fantasy with 83 points. Five goals, four assists, and five clean sheet bonuses. His 12.0 points per million is the best value of any midfielder. At 23% ownership, there is still room for him to be a differential.

Virgil van Dijk (DEF, 6.2m, 76 pts, 42% owned) anchors Liverpool's defence with 76 points, five clean sheets, two goals, and two assists. His 12.3 PPM is the best of any player in the entire competition. A genuine set-and-forget pick.

Ryan Gravenberch (MID, 5.5m, 48 pts, 5% owned) is an under-the-radar budget gem. Five clean sheet bonuses for a midfielder, plus a goal and two assists, at just 5.5m. His 8.7 PPM is excellent and his 5% ownership makes him a real differential.

⚠️ The dilemma: You cannot own everyone. If you are stacking this fixture, we recommend Szoboszlai + Van Dijk from Liverpool and Kvaratskhelia + Pacho from PSG as the optimal four-player combination. That covers both sides without blowing your budget.

Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid: Goals Guaranteed, Clean Sheets Optional

Neither Barcelona nor Atletico Madrid have been defensive fortresses in the Champions League this season. Barcelona have recorded zero clean sheets across their qualifying players. Atletico are similarly porous. This fixture screams attacking points, not defensive ones.

Barcelona Assets

Fermin Lopez (MID, 6.7m, 67 pts, 16% owned) has been Barcelona's standout fantasy asset. Six goals and four assists at 10.0 points per million. His form rating of 4.0 is solid and his 16% ownership leaves plenty of differential value. In a fixture where goals are likely, Fermin is the first name on the teamsheet.

Lamine Yamal (MID, 9.9m, 54 pts, 34% owned) has a perfect 5.0 form rating, the joint-highest in the competition. Five goals and four assists show his quality, but 54 points for 9.9m (5.5 PPM) is below what you would expect from a player at that price. He is a high-ceiling, moderate-floor option.

Raphinha (MID, 9.3m, 40 pts, 21% owned) also has a 5.0 form rating, suggesting he is peaking into the quarter-finals. Three goals and two assists, but only 40 total points and 4.3 PPM. He is a form pick rather than a season-long performer. Proceed with caution at that price.

🚫 Avoid: Jules Kounde (Barcelona, DEF) is flagged as injured. Do not select him until his status is confirmed. Barcelona's zero clean sheets this season make their defenders risky anyway.

Atletico Madrid Assets

Julian Alvarez (FWD, 9.2m, 75 pts, 20% owned) is the standout Atletico pick. Eight goals and four assists give him the third-highest points tally of any forward. At 20% ownership, he is a strong differential. His form has dipped to 3.0 recently, but against Barcelona's leaky defence, this is a fixture where his quality should shine through.

Giuliano Simeone (MID, 6.2m, 53 pts, 3% owned) is a genuine hidden gem. Two goals and an assist at just 6.2m gives him 8.5 PPM. At 3% ownership, almost nobody has him. If you are looking for a truly differential Atletico pick, Simeone Junior is your man.

Alexander Sorloth (FWD, 7.6m, 44 pts, 2% owned) offers five goals at just 2% ownership. He is the ultimate punt in this fixture. Not for the faint-hearted, but against Barcelona's defence, a goal is far from unlikely.

💡 Stacking verdict: This is the tie for budget-conscious attackers. Fermin Lopez + Julian Alvarez is the optimal pairing. Both offer genuine goal threat at reasonable prices, and neither is heavily owned enough to be considered template.

Sporting CP vs Arsenal: The Differential Factory

This fixture will be largely ignored by the community, and that is exactly why it could be the most important one for your rank. Arsenal's defensive record is the best in the competition (six clean sheets from David Raya), while Sporting CP have quietly produced some of the best value assets in the game.

Sporting CP Assets

Francisco Trincao (MID, 6.5m, 69 pts, 6% owned) is a fantasy monster hiding in plain sight. Four goals, four assists, and a 4.5 form rating at 10.6 PPM. At just 6% ownership, he is one of the most under-owned premium performers in the competition. Arsenal will be a tougher test than his league phase opponents, but Trincao has shown he can deliver against anyone.

Goncalo Inacio (DEF, 4.5m, 39 pts, 2% owned) offers two clean sheets, a goal, and 8.7 PPM at a bargain-basement price. At 2% ownership, he is essentially invisible. If Sporting can keep things tight at home in the first leg, Inacio could deliver a sneaky six-plus point haul.

Ivan Fresneda (DEF, 4.1m, 36 pts, 1% owned) is the cheapest route into this fixture. Two clean sheets and an assist at 4.1m is remarkable value. His 8.8 PPM is among the best of any defender. At 1% ownership, he is practically free rank.

Arsenal Assets

David Raya (GK, 5.5m, 46 pts, 40% owned) leads all goalkeepers with six clean sheets. A form rating of 4.0 suggests consistency rather than one-off hauls. Against Sporting CP, who scored fewer goals per game than the top sides, Raya has a strong chance of a seventh clean sheet.

Gabriel (DEF, 5.7m, 50 pts, 34% owned) combines five clean sheets with a goal and an assist. His 4.5 form rating is the highest of any Arsenal player. An aerial threat from set pieces, Gabriel is the premium defensive pick from this fixture.

Gabriel Martinelli (MID, 7.7m, 57 pts, 7% owned) has six goals this season, the most of any Arsenal player in UCL Fantasy. At 7% ownership, he is a genuine differential. His 7.4 PPM is respectable, and against Sporting he should see plenty of the ball in dangerous positions.

William Saliba (DEF, 5.9m, 39 pts, 10% owned) has four clean sheets and solid underlying numbers. Paired with Gabriel, Arsenal's centre-back duo offers a double-up that is highly likely to return clean sheet points against Sporting.

💡 Stacking verdict: Arsenal defensive double-up (Raya + Gabriel) is the safe play here. Add Trincao as the Sporting differential and you have a balanced three-player stake in a fixture most managers will underweight.

Recommended Matchday 13 Core

If you are building your squad today, here are the six players we consider essential for Leg 1:

3Kvaratskhelia PSG, 8.2m, 82 pts10.0 PPM
4Vinicius Junior Real Madrid, 9.6m, 78 pts8.1 PPM
5Kane Bayern Munich, 10.8m, 71 pts6.6 PPM
6Raya Arsenal, 5.5m, 46 pts8.4 PPM

These six players cost a combined 47.2m and deliver 436 total points between them. They cover four of the eight teams and give you a rock-solid foundation. Build around them, fill in the gaps with budget differentials from Sporting CP and Atletico Madrid, and you have a squad built to compete.

⚠️ Mbappe watch: We have deliberately left Mbappe out of the core six due to his Doubtful status and form rating of 1.0. If he is confirmed fit and starting before the deadline, he jumps back into contention. At 55% ownership, his absence would cause widespread pain, but his inclusion is too risky to recommend right now.

Final Thoughts

The quarter-finals are where seasons are won and lost. With only eight teams remaining, the margin for error is razor-thin. Focus your squad on the two headline fixtures (PSG vs Liverpool and Real Madrid vs Bayern), secure your defence with Arsenal's clean sheet specialists, and find your differential edge from the Barcelona vs Atletico and Sporting CP vs Arsenal ties.

The deadline is approaching. The data is clear. Trust the numbers, not the hype.
