Confirmed Lineups: Atletico Madrid vs Arsenal
The official semi-final XIs are out, and the big fantasy swing is obvious straight away: Madueke starts, Saka is benched, and Atleti have trusted their main transition weapons.
This is the kind of teamsheet drop that can change late decisions. Arsenal keep their defensive core intact with Raya, Saliba and Gabriel all starting, but the attacking headline is Noni Madueke in from the start with Bukayo Saka on the bench. Atletico, meanwhile, have gone with a familiar aggressive shape, keeping Julián Alvarez, Antoine Griezmann and Ademola Lookman all in the XI.
Quick take
- Arsenal right side Madueke starts, Saka benched
- Arsenal defence Raya, Saliba and Gabriel all keep their places
- Atleti shape Looks like a 4-4-2 with Griezmann roaming off Alvarez
- Main Atleti threats Alvarez, Griezmann and Lookman all start
Confirmed XIs
Atletico Madrid XI: Musso; Molina, Le Normand, Hancko, Ruggeri; Llorente, Koke, Giuliano Simeone, Lookman; Griezmann, Julián Alvarez.
Arsenal XI: Raya; Ben White, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Zubimendi; Madueke, Ødegaard, Martinelli; Gyökeres.
Fantasy read: Arsenal have kept the clean-sheet spine that most managers care about, but the absence of Saka from the XI removes a huge chunk of their set-piece certainty and right-sided chance creation. Madueke becomes the immediate upside punt, especially for anyone chasing rank late.
What the Atleti shape means
Atleti's XI still reads like Simeone's compact 4-4-2 out of possession, with Griezmann free to drift underneath Alvarez and Lookman giving them direct carry threat from the left. That matters for fantasy because Arsenal's defenders are not just chasing a clean sheet here, they are also facing three separate transition routes:
- Alvarez attacking the last line and poaching second balls in the box.
- Griezmann dropping into pockets, which can drag Arsenal's centre-backs out of shape.
- Lookman isolating White on the outside and turning counters into shots quickly.
Arsenal defence, safer than attack
From a UCL Fantasy point of view, this teamsheet is still better for Arsenal defensive holders than for Arsenal attackers. Raya, Saliba and Gabriel keep their minute security and remain live because Arsenal can control territory for long stretches. But the confirmed Atleti front four does reduce the feeling of an easy clean sheet. If you own Arsenal defenders, you are still starting them, just with a little less comfort than the raw Arsenal badge might suggest.
Best fantasy reactions before lock
- Best late differential: Madueke
- Safest Arsenal hold: Saliba or Gabriel
- Best Atleti upside play: Julián Alvarez
- Best creative differential: Griezmann
- Best rank-chasing wild card: Lookman
The Savant's verdict: Madueke starting is the one real curveball, but the bigger macro takeaway is that Atletico have not parked the bus on paper. Alvarez, Griezmann and Lookman give them enough punch to make Arsenal's defensive picks good, not automatic.
